About the Role: Ground Maintenance Mechanic (Stationary)

As a Ground Maintenance Mechanic (GMM) in our Ground Support Equipment team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our airport facilities. In this stationary role, you'll be responsible for the maintenance of stabilized machinery and equipment, performing inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and replacements as needed. Your expertise will be essential in keeping our baggage handling systems, passenger loading bridges, air handling systems, and other critical equipment running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks on stationary equipment, including passenger loading bridges, air handler hoses, gear boxes, and baggage handling systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues, replacing components as necessary to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain and repair baggage handling system control rooms, reconciling bag jams to ensure smooth operation.
  • Work on ground power cables, clamping/saddles, and other associated equipment.
  • Perform small component repairs and build-ups on specialized equipment, such as air conditioning adapters and dock light controllers.
  • Collaborate with other Delta personnel and outside vendors to coordinate repairs and ensure timely completion.
  • Respond to customer needs with minimal direction, performing repairs in time-sensitive situations.

What You Need to Succeed: Essential Qualifications

To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • A high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • At least 6 months of experience in an industrial powered mechanical environment.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines as they apply to industrial powered systems.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Ability to lift items weighing between 50 and 70 pounds.
  • Willingness to work a fixed and/or rotating schedule, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Satisfactory score on entry tests structured to determine ability to perform required tasks.

To stand out as a candidate, you'll ideally have:

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and apply information found in technical documents, manuals, and schematics.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as a team and coordinate repairs with other Delta personnel and outside vendors.
  • Experience responding to customer needs with minimal direction, performing repairs in time-sensitive situations.
  • Completion of a two-year degree at a post-secondary technical school.
