Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Kindergarten Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to creating a dynamic and supportive learning environment. As a Kindergarten Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of our students. You will work collaboratively with our educational team to promote academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and character development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development and Implementation: Develop and implement a comprehensive kindergarten curriculum that aligns with state and national standards, incorporating trauma-informed/resiliency-based strategies and interventions.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a well-organized and respectful classroom environment that promotes student engagement, motivation, and achievement.
  • Instructional Techniques: Utilize research-based instructional techniques and technology to deliver high-quality instruction and support student learning.
  • Assessment and Record-Keeping: Demonstrate knowledge of assessment techniques and maintain accurate and timely records of student progress.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to promote student success and foster a sense of community.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education and to enhance instructional skills.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Certification: Must meet MCL 380.1531 and Administrative Rules Governing the Certification of MI Teachers.
  • ESL Endorsement: ESL endorsement (NS) preferred or willing to obtain.
  • Experience: Previous experience in kindergarten or early childhood education is highly desirable.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Knowledge of assessment techniques and record-keeping.
    • Ability to implement local curriculum and State Benchmarks/Common Core Standards.
    • Familiarity with Fountas & Pinnell and Guided Reading.
    • Knowledge of Math Workshop and technology integration.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
