Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Monitoring Tools Engineer to join our team, specializing in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and cloud environment expertise. As a key member of our monitoring and observability team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining monitoring solutions that ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our clients' IT infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain monitoring solutions using Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and other monitoring tools.
  • Develop and customize management packs, integrations, and automation scripts to meet the needs of our clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve monitoring-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in monitoring and observability, including cloud and hybrid environments, and apply this knowledge to improve our solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including knowledge base articles, build, and runbooks, to ensure seamless knowledge transfer and onboarding.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, delivering high-quality support to internal and external customers, and ensuring their monitoring needs are met.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance our monitoring solutions and processes.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a monitoring and observability role, with a focus on Microsoft SCOM (or equivalent experience with similar tools).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and its components, including customization of management packs, integrations, and automation.
  • Experience with PowerShell development and scripting, including automation tools such as Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with cloud and hybrid environments, including Azure and AWS, and experience with related DevOps tools and methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and architecture, including TCP/IP Networking, DNS, Firewalls, etc.
  • Experience with database management systems, such as SQL Server, to support SCOM dependencies.
  • Relevant industry certifications, such as MCSA or MCSE, are desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with the following preferred qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in a senior monitoring and observability role, with a focus on Microsoft SCOM.
  • Experience with Bash scripting, Python development, HTTP-based APIs, Git source control, CI/CD, Vault or Secrets Management, PKI and TLS certificates, Ansible, and SCOM component dependencies.
  • Familiarity with containerization concepts (e.g., Docker) and container orchestration concepts (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Experience with task planning and execution, including project management methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, including knowledge base articles, build, and runbooks.
  • Good understanding of IT security and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Strong customer service skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality support to internal and external customers.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
