What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)

As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist - Advanced, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting and analyzing equipment, diagnosing malfunctions, and maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Performing maintenance on vehicles, motors, kitchen appliances, and motorized equipment.
  • Operating groundskeeping equipment such as plow trucks, snow blowers, and mowers.
  • Supervising and training inmates in mechanical maintenance and repair work assignments.
  • Maintaining security in the work environment and keeping maintenance records.

What is Required (Qualifications)

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience or training in construction or repair of structures.
  • Experience or training in general maintenance and repairs in areas such as plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work.
  • Experience operating powered grounds maintenance equipment.
  • A valid driver's license for some positions.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including climbing, bending, crawling, and lifting.
