As a data engineer at Walgreens, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of our organization by developing and maintaining complex data pipelines, architectures, and systems that drive business insights and inform strategic decision-making. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders, to design, build, and deploy scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions that meet the needs of our customers and patients.

Job Responsibilities

As a full stack data engineer at Walgreens, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing software applications that collect, process, and serve data to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives
  • Designing and implementing data structures and pipelines to collect, store, and standardize data from multiple sources
  • Writing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) scripts, designing database systems, and developing tools for real-time and offline analytic processing
  • Developing data pipelines that are scalable, repeatable, and secure
  • Troubleshooting software applications and data pipelines to ensure data consistency and integrity
  • Integrating data from multiple sources to ensure data quality and accessibility
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to communicate complex data insights and recommendations
  • Effectively resolving problems and roadblocks as they occur

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics
  • At least 1 year of experience in data engineering, with a strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development principles
  • Advanced expertise in SQL, with experience working with relational databases and data modeling
  • Experience setting up and maintaining key relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Experience analyzing and reporting data to identify problems, trends, or exceptions and inform business decisions

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Graduate degree in a technical discipline, such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics
  • Experience with REST API development and Azure software deployment
  • Experience with Azure services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, App Services, Azure Data Lake, Azure Functions, Event Hubs, Event Grids, and Logic App
  • Experience building Azure DevOps pipelines to enable CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaaS), and automation
