Job Description

Key responsibilities:

The Sourcing Team Leader is responsible for:

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Develop and deploy world-class sourcing and procurement strategies for services, indirect spend, and project-related equipment.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of sourcing and procurement professionals—including commodity managers, tender leaders, and procurement team members—to deliver results and build organizational capability.
  • Drive governance and accountability through robust KPI frameworks: deflation, OTD, DTP, vendor recovery, supplier quality, and compliance.
  • Build resilience in the supply base by developing supplier panels, dual sourcing strategies, and proactive risk mitigation.

Tendering & Project Sourcing

  • Partner with commercial, sales, and engineering to define sourcing strategies during bid and proposal stages.
  • Provide competitive cost models, supplier quotations, and risk assessments to improve win rates and cost competitiveness.
  • Ensure seamless transition from tender to project execution, aligning sourcing strategies with project schedules and budgets.

Supplier Strategy & Negotiations

  • Lead supplier negotiations, frame agreements, and project-specific contracts.
  • Establish and maintain strategic supplier relationships, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve claims, disputes, and escalations with favorable outcomes for the business.

Procurement & Logistics

  • Oversee execution of purchase orders, logistics coordination, supplier expediting, and invoice resolution.
  • Ensure materials and services are delivered on time, at the right cost, and at the right quality.
  • Promote lean processes, ERP accuracy, and continuous improvement across procurement execution.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Finance, Legal, and Compliance to ensure sourcing activities meet corporate standards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Supplier Development to qualify new suppliers and foster innovation.
  • Engage with Project Managers and Operations to balance cost-out initiatives with delivery excellence.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).

  • 10+ years of progressive sourcing, procurement, or supply chain leadership experience in complex, project-driven environments (energy, industrial, EPC, or construction preferred).
  • 10 years expertise in supplier negotiations, contract management, and sourcing strategy deployment.
  • 10 years experience in project procurement processes, indirect spend management, and logistics operations.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience sourcing/procuring high voltage electrical equipment and materials as well as construction services and civil/site works

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving cross-functional alignment.
  • Ability to successfully establish and drive an operational rigor in a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively develop, coach, and mentor talent
  • Good understanding of legal/contractual aspects of an EPC contract and negotiation expertise
  • Strategic thinker / planner and ability to influence
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of purchasing and sourcing standards, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge in scheduling/planning of large and complex projects.
