Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager, UK (Remote)  We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our day-to-day accounting operations, manage month-end processes, and ensure accurate financial reporting in compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced SaaS environment and enjoys building efficient processes that scale.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Own the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Liaise with external auditors and support the year-end audit process.
  • Oversee payroll accounting and managing related compliance filings (e.g PAYE, P11D) in collaboration with HR and external providers. 
  • Manage the day-to-day accounts payable and employee expense processes with support from junior staff. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate VAT filings and other tax compliance obligations. 
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and process improvements across the finance function, including documenting processes and accounting policies.
  • Manage ad hoc projects (e.g cross functional process improvements, M&A integration, system implementation) 

What you'll bring to the role.

Experience, attitude & core skills

  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) 
  • Proficient in NetSuite accounting software 
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role (ideally for a remote team) 
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts under UK GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Familiarity with tax compliance (e.g VAT, corporation tax) 
  • Hands-on experience processing UK payroll and ensuring compliance with statutory filings and deadlines 
  • A solid understanding of internal control design and operational efficiency 
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical mindset, and a proactive approach to problem solving 

Nice to have

  • SaaS or technology sector background
  • Exposure to multi-entity or multi-currency operations including international intercompany transactions and consolidated management reports and financial statements 
  • Knowledge of ESG, R&D tax credits or transfer pricing
